Yotify : Scouring the Web for Notifications That Matter to You

A new web service that started in September takes an interesting approach towards the information overload problem on the web. Yotify takes an approach that covers the ground between search engines and social networks. While search engines provide us with results from all the web and social networks are people and activity centric, Yotify provides a service that lets the user maintain a watch or scout on select sites and be alerted when events occur that meet certain criteria.

Google Now Searches through Scanned Documents

Who would have thought that the day will come that even documents which were digitized through scanning can now be search by Google’s powerful search crawlers? Previously, Google can only searched through PDF documents which were converted from a text file. The Googlebot left out those PDF documents, wheter image or text-based which were converted to PDF through scanning. But not anymore.

On-Demand Indexing by Google Custom Search Engine

Google has introduced a new system to work in conjunction with its already existing Custom Search Engine (CSE).

Since the launch of the CSE, its had a downfall for smaller publishers. The engine couldn’t index the entire site properly. With the introduction of the new system, Google’s CSE is able to index full sites using sitemaps with on-demand flexibility.
